In pone.0000133 and pone.0000181, some of the table titles have a superscripted *, a, or b, that links to a footnote in the table.
They are tagged thusly: <xref ref-type="table-fn" rid="nt101">a</xref>
In the online version (though not in the image viewer itself), the "nt101"
is rendered instead of the "a". See screenshot.
additionally, the links don't work! since the footnote is part of the image, there's nothing on the article page for the link to point to.
we should probably just suppress these footnotes, unless there's an easy way to pop-up the figure viewer on click and display the footnote
it might make more sense to display these footnotes links in the figure viewer...
