If we think of the alert system as a service for applications built on Topaz, it seems it may be necessary to include the application ID when inserting an alert and also when the "timeline" is created with events from Fedora. There are a couple of instances where this would be beneficial. The emails should be customizable per application. HTML templates or even plain text templates should be able to be specified by the application. Perhaps even the sender (name at least) of the email should be specifiable. Further, if we want to be able to link to objects which are not registered with Crossref (e.g., alerts when annotations or comments are added), we would want the URL prefix of the local application "DOI" resolver.
