annotation in numbered list messes up formatting

Description

Article 59 -- see the extra lines between items 1, 2, and 3, plus the weird line break after numeral 3 and before its content. Reader reports the article looked fine before he added the annotation, but I have no way of verifying this.

Reported by user:

Dear colleagues,

I have just posted a commentary: http://www.plosone.org/article/fetchArticle.action?articleURI=info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0000059 []

Unfortunately I have corrupted the formating of their introduction? I am sorry to cause this technical problem.

Regards, Jan

Jon, can you please ask Russ to ingest this article on branch and test creating annotations in the same spot?

Umm this is still occurring and is due some current deficiencies with the text range mapping logic to/from html/xml which I am afraid of right now. I definitely want to robustify this logic both at the xsl (viewnlm) level and javascript (annotation.js) level but this is a big beast and i don't want to jack things up just before the 0.9 release.
