Topaz KVM & PDUs

You need a password. Contact an existing user to create one.

Getting to consoles

  • https://kvm.topazproject.org (also includes FAQ/Help)
  • Use VNC to kvm.topazproject.org
  • Tunnel VNC over ssh (more secure)
  • Directly connect a monitor, keyboard and mouse

Press ctrl twice to get to menu.

Administration

  • https://kvm.topazproject.org user:admin, password: <ask>
  • There is a null-modem cable connected to albus. From albus, as root, run: minicom. (It defaults to 115k-8N1.) You still need the admin password. The web interface is recommended.

Ports

There are 16-ports. We're using 8. The on-screen menus indicate what port is what machine.

Security

It is strictly password based. The system is running a version of linux. We could force ssh tunneling for VNC if we wanted to.

PDUs

There are two PDUs on either side of the rack. We've tried to distribute the power evenly, so some of the machines are plugged into the left and some into the right. You can use the PDUs to remotely power-cycle machines.
